Visiting the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center all the way from Ireland, the Brock McGuire Band’s music is steeped in tradition with a tight, tenacious blend of instruments emphasizing mostly Irish music with a touch of American Old Timey, Bluegrass, French Canadian and other Celtic traditions.
The band is fronted by Moving Cloud founding members Paul Brock and Manus McGuire, two of Ireland’s most celebrated traditional musicians. Performing with Brock and McGuire are Dublin-based Garry O’Meara, a brilliant banjo and mandolin player and vocalist, and Denis Carey, an acclaimed pianist, composer and arranger.
Brock McGuire Band’s new CD collaboration “Green Grass Blue Grass” with 14-time Grammy Award Winner Ricky Skaggs has been hailed as “A Masterpiece” by American music critic Bill Margeson. More information about the band can be found at www.brockmcguireband.com.
