Financial Aid Requirements

Eligibility requirements may vary for each financial aid program, but there are a number of general eligibility requirements common to each.

  1. Students must have “financial need” which is determined by subtracting the expected family contribution as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) from the cost of attendance.
  2. Students must be U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens.
  3. Students must have a valid Social Security number.
  4. Students must enroll as regular students in an eligible program of study.
  5. Students must maintain satisfactory academic progress as measured by the Financial Aid Office.
  6. Students must have a high school diploma or GED.
  7. Students cannot receive Federal Title IV funds for more than the first 30 credit hours attempted in learning support classes.
  8. Students cannot be in default on a student loan or owe a money back on a federal student grant.
  9. Students may not receive a Federal Pell Grant for attendance at more than one school for the same period of time.
