Eagles and Lady Eagles knock it out of the park

Seth Hinson of Dyersburg and Ashley Hargrove of Waynesboro earned the Scholar-Athlete and the Dean of Student Services Choice awards. Hinson was also named Outstanding Student Athlete.  Hargrove received the Captain's award.

Members of the 2011-12 Dyersburg State Community College Eagles baseball team and the Lady Eagles softball team, along with their families and friends and members of the DSCC staff, gathered in the First Citizens National Bank Auditorium on the Dyersburg campus on Tuesday, May 15, for the annual end of season awards presentation ceremony.

Awards were presented to athletes who have distinguished themselves on the field, on the campus and in the classroom. The DSCC Dean of Student Services Choice Award, established to recognize exemplary displays of sportsmanship, academic achievement, and dedication to campus service, was presented to Ashley Hargrove of Waynesboro and Seth Hinson of Dyersburg.

Student-athletes from each sport with the highest grade point average (GPA) were recognized as Scholar-Athletes. These players’ names will be engraved on the large plaque displayed in the E.H. Lannom, Jr. Gymnasium on the Dyersburg campus. Ashley Hargrove and Seth Hinson earned this honor.
