Theatre Department Courses Offered

THEA 1030     Introduction to Theatre          3 hours credit
Emphasis is placed on a general  appreciation of the theatre arts through the study of diverse styles of dramatic productions, a history of ancient Greek to contemporary theatre, and the processes involved in producing a theatrical production.  (Co-requisites: DSE 081, DSR 081, DSS 081 or equivalent documented skill levels). 

THEA 235         Acting I                                  3 hours credit
Course offers an introduction to the craft of acting. Elementary  principles of the actor's art are emphasized. Students will engage in acting exercises. (Prerequisites:DSR 081, DSS 081)


THEA 236         Acting II                                3 hours credit
Course is a continuation of THE 235.  More in-depth techniques and  principles of acting are treated, and more complex acting exercises will be used. 
(Prerequisite: THE 235)    

 

THE 145        Performance Theatre Lab  I    2 hours credit
Course involves guided and directed rehearsals which lead to a public play performance.  Minimum of 30 hours laboratory.  Students involved in a play  production one semester may receive credit the following semester.
(Prerequisite:  The student must be cast in a production sponsored by the DSCC Theatre Department.)

THE 146        Performance Theatre Lab  II   1 hour credit
Course involves guided and directed rehearsals which lead to a public play  performance.   Minimum of 30 hours laboratory.  (Prerequisites:  THE 145  and the student must be cast in a production sponsored by the DSCC
Theatre Department. (Prerequisite: THE 146)
