Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood degree is designed to develop knowledgeable professionals who will have a positive impact on the lives of young children and their families. Students in this program will be equipped to implement developmentally appropriate practices and learn effective teaching methods.
DSCC offers multiple options for students who are ready to begin a new career or take their skills to the next level in their chosen field.
The EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION concentration provides the educational needs of the child care industry as well as the Head Start teachers and teacher assistants in public Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education classrooms. It is specifically designed for students who plan to enter the workforce after graduation.

Early Childhood Education Outcomes
The BASIC EARLY CHILDHOOD CERTIFICATE program can be completed in one semester and includes four courses required to receive the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential.

The EARLY CHILDHOOD CERTIFICATE program is designed to provide students with the knowledge and hands-on experience to successfully work with children ages birth through 8 years in a child care setting. Each course in this certificate may be applied to the Early Childhood Education major and concentration.
