DSCC is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant, alien students on F-1 and J-1 visas.

Complete credentials must be received in the Office of Admissions and Records according to the following:

  • July 1 for admission to the fall (August) term
  • November 1 for admission to the spring (January) term
  • March 1 for admission for summer (May) admission.
     

Ready to apply?   Follow the steps below:
 

  1. Complete an Application

    1. Complete the paper admissions application if you did not attend DSCC the previous semester excluding summer. 
  2. Request Documentation

    1. Transcripts
      1. Submit a certified or notarized copy of your authenticated academic records in English translation. These records should describe the courses of instruction in terms of years spent in school and the type of subject matter covered, with grades earned in each subject. The educational level attained must be comparable to a high school diploma in the United States.
      2. Submit an official transcript in English translation from each college or university that you have attended
    2. Test Scores
      1. An official copy of ACT scores may be used for placement only if the ACT scores are no older than five years. *Official SAT scores may be accepted in lieu of ACT scores.
      2. Submit official Test of English as Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores if your native language is not English. You must have a minimum score of 133 on the computer-based TOEFL or 450 on the paper-based TOEFL or 45 on the Internet-based TOEFL to be admitted to DSCC.
      3. Review course placement information to determine if other testing is required.
    3. Health Items
      1. Provide proof of immunizations

      3. Submit a certificate from a licensed physician or other qualified medical authority verifying freedom from tuberculosis within thirty days from the first day of classes. Failure to furnish such a certificate shall result in denial of further enrollment or admission. In the event that you either have tuberculosis or have potential tuberculosis requiring medical treatment, continued enrollment will be contingent upon the determination by a licensed physician that further enrollment does not present a risk to others upon your compliance with any prescribed medical treatment program.
      4. Provide proof of hospitalization insurance prior to completing registration. International students are required to purchase the Tennessee Board of Regents International Student Injury and Sickness Plan.
    4. Financial Capability
      1. Show evidence of financial capability. You must provide a statement indicating who will provide funds for the applicant's educational and living expenses while you are enrolled at DSCC.
  3. Regulations

    1. Become familiar with the regulations of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and assume responsibility for complying with these regulations
  4. Receive Acceptance

    1. A letter of acceptance will be sent to you from the Office of Admissions and Records letting you know your next steps.
