Students Recognized at DSCC Honors Convocation

DSCC honored students on April 26 at the College’s Annual Honors Convocation.

Dyersburg State Community College honored students on April 26 at the College’s Annual Honors Convocation inside the Student Center on the Dyersburg campus. The Honors Program recognized sixty-nine students for various awards.

DSCC students Abby Alton of Paris, Lauren Coonts of Gates, Jayden Marzolf of Cordova, Emily Reimold of Somerville, Cassidy Taylor of Troy, Elijah Tittle of Dyersburg, and Logan Warren of Trenton, were each recognized for graduating with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average (GPA) with a minimum of 30 college-level hours in residence at DSCC and presented the Outstanding Scholastic Graduate Award.

Outstanding Tutor Awards were presented by Student Support Services (SSS) to Abby Alton, Abigail Gallardo of Covington, Gia Rhoad of Newbern, and Willa Stafford of Munford for their outstanding efforts to support students’ success.

Rachael Clair of Atoka, Kaci-Lynn Ellwood of Atoka, Brianna Morgan of Dyersburg, Zachary Murray of Halls, Hana Rhamy of Ridgely, Shelby Robertson of Lexington, Lillian Sodam of Millington, Ashlyn Webber of Atoka, Emma York of Ridgely, and Abby Alton were each recognized by SSS for students maintaining a 4.0 GPA since enrollment and presented with the Outstanding 4.0 Student Award.

Leadership and service awards were presented to members of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), Student Government Association (SGA), and Eagle Ambassadors in recognition of service and dedication to Dyersburg State. PTK Leadership and Service Awards were presented to Megan Almond of Munford, Channa Cole of Dyersburg, Lauren Coonts, Abigail Heavner of Munford, Chloe Johnson of Atoka, Whitney Jones of Drummonds, Tealiyah Pierce of Munford, Amy Ragghianti of Atoka, Cynthia Ward of Alamo, and Chloe Yants of Brownsville. SGA Leadership and Service Awards were presented to SGA president Ollie Myrick of Ripley, SGA senator Madison Naylor of Drummonds, and SGA vice president Abdallah Suleiman of Dyersburg. Eagle Ambassador Leadership and Service Awards were presented to Kelijah Dennis of Halls, Miriam Guerrero of Covington, Lillian Hoskins of Halls, Chloe Johnson, and Monica Ray of Jackson.

Each academic department recognized students for their academic achievements during the 2021-2022 academic year. The Division of Arts and Sciences awarded Jessie Brooks of Drummonds, and Halle Grace Patton of Adamsville with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in English; Rachell Brown of Newbern with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Humanities and Fine Arts; Brian Henneberg of Henning with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Mathematics; Bethanie Lovell of Dyersburg with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Social and Behavioral Sciences; and Daniel Nabors of Atoka, and Shelby Terry of Dyersburg with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Natural Sciences. The Division of Career, Technical and Distance Education awarded Adrianna McCann of Newbern with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Accounting; Olivia Boutwell of Millington, Christine Murphy of Brighton, Emily Reimold, and Anniston Tipps of Dyersburg with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Business; Dwight Morefield of Dyersburg with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Business Management; Laina Gray of Burlison with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Computer Information Technology; Jordan Johnson of Millington, Carter McCoy of Drummonds, Baily Oaks of Atoka, Elijah Tittle, and Taniys Webb of Atoka with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Criminal Justice; Kaitlyn Laubach of Adamsville with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Early Childhood Education; Hannah Depoe of Mason with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Emergency Medical Services; Amanda Williams of Newbern with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Engineering Systems Technology; Ashley Clay of Obion and Joycelyn Taylor of Dyersburg with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Healthcare Technician; and Lexi King of Rives, and Yolonda Williams of Memphis with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in Health Information Management. The Division of Nursing awarded Gina Goodrich of Union City, Selrea Johnson of Dyersburg, McKenzie Martin of Atoka, Casey Paschal of Newbern, and Kellie Presgrove-Evins of Brighton with the Outstanding Academic Achievement Award in First-Year Nursing.
