Students Enroll in the First Class of the DSCC Middle College Program

Dyersburg State Community College will welcome its inaugural Middle College students in the Fall 2022!

Through Middle College, high school juniors from Lauderdale County and Tipton County Schools will earn an Associate of Science degree with a concentration in General Studies. The program offers students the opportunity to complete 60 hours (four semesters) of college credit by attending classes in person at the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County. Middle College students will graduate high school as college juniors.

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Jimmy Naifeh Center (JNC) at Tipton County hosted the Lauderdale and Tipton Counties High School New Student Orientation for the DSCC Middle College program on May 12 at 5 p.m. Local city and county officials and school board members were in attendance and participated in this historical inaugural class of new high school college students. High school students from Lauderdale and Tipton Counties will be the first to participate in the 2022-2023 academic year for the DSCC Middle College program. The orientation focused on providing information about the faculty and staff, touring the campus, and the expectations of these new college students.

 “The program will be an excellent opportunity for students to save time on college completion, save money on college tuition and fees, and thrive in a nurturing and challenging academic environment. This opportunity was made possible by the diligent efforts and collaboration between Dyersburg State Community College, Lauderdale County Schools, and Tipton County Schools administration, faculty, and staff,” stated Dr. Jan Reid-Bunch, vice president for the college.
