In-person classes with some options for virtual learning planned for fall

DSCC to offer possible options due to increase in COVID cases

This fall semester, Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will proceed with their current plan to return to in-person instruction. However, due to a recent increase in COVID-19 cases, students enrolled in in-person classes, after consultation with their instructor, may have the option to attend that class in person or by Zoom teleconferencing. Fall semester classes are scheduled to begin Aug. 23.

The College plans to monitor changes to COVID data and will abide by future recommendations provided by federal and state officials, and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention.

Options available to students, after consultation with their instructor, may include in-person classes; Zoom teleconferencing at their scheduled class time; a combination of either online instruction or Zoom plus in-person instruction; or online instruction using eLearn.

As COVID-19 concerns continue, guidelines for keeping the DSCC community safe and healthy will include face mask requirements; daily temperature checks and health screenings before entering buildings; additional cleaning by DSCC custodial staff; daily protocols for disinfecting desks, frequently-touched items and equipment; and limiting building entrances and exits. These guidelines will assist in limiting virus transmission and exposure to maintain a safe and healthy learning environment for the entire college community. For more information on DSCC's COVID guidelines, visit www.dscc.edu/coronavirus.

DSCC health and safety guidelines are aligned with the recommendations set forth by the CDC, and the Tennessee Department of Health.

New students are encouraged to make an appointment with an advisor and apply for admission at www.dscc.edu/apply. Appointments for in-person or virtual advising appointments, as well as a tour of the campus or centers, can be made online at www.dscc.edu/appointment.
