Peeler Named Director of Student Life at the Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County

President Karen Bowyer has announced the appointment of Michael L. Peeler as Director of Student Life at the JNC.

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) President Karen Bowyer has announced the appointment of Michael L. Peeler as Director of Student Life at the Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County (JNC).

Michael Peeler is a retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel. As Director of Student Life at the JNC, he will be responsible for coordinating programs and services related to diversity, student activities, and student organizations at the JNC. Peeler will also assist in providing programs and services in the area of admissions outreach.

Dean of the Jimmy Naifeh Center, Ms. Christie Hudnall, stated, “We look forward to Michael Peeler joining us as Director of Student Life at the Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County. His experience and knowledge will be a true asset for our students and center.”

Peeler has over 26 years of combined military service in the U.S. Army and the Tennessee Army National Guard. He retired in 2015, having gained more than 20 years of leadership experience through the key command and staff positions he held throughout his military career. Peeler is a State of Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) certified law enforcement officer with nearly six years of experience.

Peeler previously served full-time as the Assistant Director for Veteran and Career Advising in Austin Peay State University’s Office of Career Services. Peeler also served part-time as a career adviser for veterans for APSU.

Peeler earned a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Health from the University of Tennessee, Martin, and a Master of Science in Adult Occupational and Continuing Education from Kansas State University.

Peeler and his wife, Stephanie, have two adult daughters, Jacolby and Kristian.
