Dyersburg State Holds Veterans Day Ceremony at the Dyersburg Campus

The Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) held its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Dyersburg campus on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. inside the Learning Resource Center (LRC).

DSCC President Dr. Karen Bowyer welcomed faculty, staff, students, and local community members to Dyersburg State. Sarah Twaddle, DSCC Academic Success Coach, led the Pledge of Allegiance followed by the parading of the colors and the presentation of the colors by the Dyer County High School Reserve Offers’ Training Corps (ROTC). The National Anthem was performed by Instructor of Music and DSCC Choir Director, Mr. Thomas Frost. Dr. Bowyer presented Michael Brooks, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice at DSCC, with a chancellor’s commendation challenge coin from the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) Chancellor Flora Tydings for his exemplary military service. Closing remarks were given by Senator Ed Jackson and DSCC Vice President Dr. Jan Reid- Bunch.

Flags were displayed on the lawn of the Dyersburg campus Nov. 11-12 to pay tribute to our veterans through a flag fundraiser. Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit scholarships for students who are veteran or military-affiliated.
