Dyersburg State Announces New CCMA Dual Enrollment Class at Lake County High School

DSCC will be offering the CCMA class at Lake County High School. The class will be the first dual enrollment class in the Healthcare Technician Program.

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will be offering the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) class at Lake County High School. The CCMA class will be the first dual enrollment class in the Healthcare Technician Program.

Crystal Prince, Health Science Teacher and Lead nurse, is excited to allow her students to begin their college careers in healthcare. Crystal states, “I am excited to continue our partnership with DSCC as we transition into the CCMA program at LCHS. The CCMA class will provide our students with more job opportunities in healthcare. In addition, this class will allow them to join the workforce after graduation while continuing their education at DSCC.”

DSCC's Healthcare Technician program provides students with credentials to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). A CCMA is a multi-skilled professional and a valuable asset to physicians. They assist during physical examinations, maintain treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, answer patient questions, and obtain vital signs. As a CCMA, students will also be certified to perform Electrocardiograms (ECG) and Phlebotomy. Credits earned can be applied to an Associate of Applied Science degree.
