DSCC Celebrates 30th Anniversary at the Gibson County Center in Trenton

Gibson County Center celebrated its 30th anniversary serving West Tennessee and providing the TECTA program

The Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Gibson County Center celebrated its 30th anniversary serving West Tennessee and providing the Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA). The reception was held at the Center on Wednesday, Nov. 3 at 3 p.m. Community members, faculty and staff, students, and alumni joined celebrating the college’s milestone.

The DSCC Chorus performed for the opening of the anniversary celebration. Dr. Karen Bowyer, president of DSCC, welcomed guests and introduced student speakers Cleo Turner, Shaniah Lee, and Kenyata Jones. Director of the Gibson County Center Julie Griggs gave the invocation. The proclamation was presented by the City of Trenton Mayor Ricky Jackson and Gibson County Commissioner Bradley Owens. Speakers for the celebration were Libby Wickersham, Executive Director of the Greater Gibson County Area Chamber of Commerce, Julie Allen Ward, Executive Director of the Milan Chamber of Commerce, Joey Hays, President of Dyer Foods, Inc. and Former DSCC Foundation Board Member, and Kelly Maupin, Director of TECTA. Dr. Bowyer gave the closing remarks, and refreshments were served in the main lobby.
