Dr. Sharron Burnett, vice president for finance and administrative services at Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC), was chosen as one of the 13 faculty and staff from the College System of Tennessee to take part in the 2021-2022 class of the Maxine Smith Fellows Program.

The program, named after the late Maxine Smith – who was instrumental in the desegregation of public schools in Memphis, is in its 15th year of inception and provides professional development, education and advancement opportunities to those from underrepresented groups at the College System of Tennessee, governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), and the state’s locally governed public universities. The program also encourages increased collaboration among institutions, development of a statewide network for program participants, and an overall increase in the diversity of ideas, thoughts and experiences within senior leadership at Tennessee public higher education institutions.
