Daume Named DSCC Head Coach of Lady Eagles Basketball Team

Dyersburg, Tennessee – Dr. Karen Bowyer, president of Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC), has announced the appointment of Nathan Daume as the new head coach of the Lady Eagles Basketball Team.   

“Coach Daume has an impressive record of coaching women’s basketball teams and developing individual student-athlete talent,” stated Dr. Bowyer. “We welcome him back to his home region and look forward to him continuing to create a winning environment for our students, alumni, fans and community.”

Daume boasts an impressive 27-year span in collegiate coaching. He transitioned to secondary education in 2018, coming to DSCC from Fort Myers Middle School where he served as a seventh-grade math teacher. In his most recent collegiate-level coaching experience, he served as women’s assistant basketball coach at Quincy University from 2011-2018. There, he helped lead his team to a Great Lakes Valley Western Division Conference win in 2012 and advanced to the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) round in 2012, 2014 and 2016.

Prior to this, he was the women’s assistant basketball coach at Florida Gulf Coast University, where he was the head recruiter for junior college prospects and coordinator of team travel; and was instrumental in player development. In addition, he assisted the team in accomplishing a championship win in 2009 in the Atlantic Sun Conference and won against the nationally-ranked University of Florida in 2009. Daume served as women’s head basketball coach at Hutchinson Community College from 2002-2007 where he led his team to a 97-59 overall record; coached and developed 2008 Olympian Natalie Purcell; and helped advanced student-athletes to Division I and II colleges and All-American awards. From 1998-2002, he served as women’s head basketball coach at Fort Scott Community College where he was named Jayhawk East Coach of the Year in 2002 and coached and developed 2008 Olympian Noni Wharemate. He also served as men’s assistant basketball coach at Fort Scott Community College from 1996-1998 and men’s student assistant basketball coach at the University of Missouri-Columbia from 1994-1996.

Daume earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1994.
