Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) has announced an art exhibit featuring paintings by artist Cindy Scott is currently on display at the DSCC Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County. The paintings will be on display through April 17 throughout the Ripley Power and Light Lobby inside the Learning Resource Center, Student Center and Tipton County Public Library. A reception will be held at this location March 13 from 6:30-8 p.m.

Scott began her art career at Smith and Nephew as a freelance medical illustrator. For the past 26 years, she has been illustrating surgical techniques for various medical companies. In her free time, she enjoys painting and drawing with acrylics, pastels, colored pencils and watercolor pencils. Being from southern Louisiana, Scott enjoys painting swamps, magnolias, pelicans, crabs and beaches. She won first and second place in the 2016 Eagle Fest Art Competition at Reelfoot Lake with her paintings of ‘Low Water Perch’ and ‘Knees of Cypress.’ Inspired by her love for her country, one of her most recent creations, ‘American Farmer,’ won an award for best creativity in the 2016 Tipton County Art Exhibit ‘Local Color.’ Scott has also created many commissioned pieces over the years, including pet portraits, scenes from family vacations and hunting trips, old homesteads, and most recently a firefighter answering the call of duty. These pieces and many more can be viewed on her Facebook page at www.facebook.com/cindybashamscott/

The public is invited to view Cindy’s work through April 17 and attend the reception on March 13. For more information, contact Barbara Flowers McBride at 901-237-4006.
