Choral Society to Present Christmas Concert

DSCC will present the Dyersburg Choral Society in its annual Christmas concert.

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) will present the Dyersburg Choral Society in its annual Christmas concert Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m. at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Admission for the concert is free. The 38-member group is made up of members of the community and choral students from DSCC and is under the direction of Floyd Speck, with pianist Carolyn Burnett accompanying.

The concert will consist of a wide variety of Christmas music, from Joel Raney “Christmas Is Coming” to “Deck the Hall” by Philip Larson. Included on the program are solos by Mindy Davis and Sarah Jean.

Membership in the Dyersburg Choral Society is open to everyone with no auditions required. The only requirement is that you have a sincere desire to sing and attend rehearsals regularly. Rehearsals are held in the music room at DSCC each Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. each fall and spring semester. DSCC students may take this as a credit course for a fee. Members of the Choral Society who do not take this as a credit course pay only a small membership fee.

This concert is made possible by funding from the Arts Build Communities (ABC) grant program in coordination with the Tennessee Arts Commission. The ABC grant is designed to provide support for arts projects that broaden access to arts experiences, address community quality of life issues through the arts, or enhance the sustainability of asset-based cultural enterprises.
