Certificate Program Opportunities Available at DSCC

Dyersburg State Meets with Kiwanis about Certificate Program Opportunities Available at the College

Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) met with Kiwanis on Nov. 10 to discuss the short-term certificate programs and the new equipment and technology DSCC offers to adults and recent high school graduates.

Mary Richardson, a DSCC student-athlete, spoke to Kiwanis members about her positive experiences at DSCC. Richardson is a member of the Lady Eagles Basketball Team and is currently seeking a major in Associate of Science in Teaching.

Dennis Anderson, Dean of Career, Technical and Distance Education, gave a presentation on the new simulators and technology to prepare students for their new careers. The new technology includes the shaken baby simulator, new mobile EMS simulator, classroom EMS simulator, Engineering Systems Technology (EST) lab, EMS labs, upgraded manikins, EMS equipment, and the new VirTra V-100 Simulator for the Criminal Justice program.

Students can earn a certificate and start a rewarding and profitable career in 12 months or less. Programs available in the Career In A Year Program include Advanced EMT, Basic Early Childhood Education (Child Development Associate)(CDA)), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Production Technician (CPT), CIT – Microsoft Technical Associate (MTA), CIT – Windows 10 Installation and Configuration, CIT – Configuring Windows Devices, CIT – Installation, Storage and Compute with Windows Server, CIT – CompTIA A+, CIT – CompTIA Network A+, CIT – CompTIA Security+, CIT – Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT), CIT – Computer Systems Operations maintenance, Corrections and Law Enforcement, Early Childhood Education, Electrical Maintenance Fundamentals, Electronic Health record, EMT, Healthcare Technician (Certified Clinical Medical Associate (CCMA)), LPN to RN Fast Track, Mechanical Maintenance Fundamentals, Mechatronics, Medical Coding (Certified Coding Associate (CCA)), Paramedic, and Paramedic to RN.
