Art by Foster and Bellott on Display now Through Feb. 10

Art exhibits by Barrie Foster and Dominique Bellott, are on display at the Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County through Feb 10, 2020. The exhibit is located throughout the Ripley Power and Light Company Lobby inside the Learning Resource Center. An artist reception will be held Wednesday, Jan. 22, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. inside the Lobby.

Dominique was born in Paris, France, and raised in England. She grew up seeing the artwork of the Masters at the Louvre and many other museums in Europe. Dominique met Barrie while teaching Italian at the University of Memphis in 2012, and began painting shortly thereafter. Dominique holds master’s degrees in Speech Pathology and Romance Languages. Dominique loves the spontaneity of painting in watercolor and rarely knows ahead of time what she wants to paint; instead, she lets the paint guide her where she needs to go. She also enjoys lecturing about art history and garden history throughout the community.

Barrie was born in Alexandria, Virginia, but grew up in foreign countries. She always had a creative side, but did not begin painting until she was 40 years old when she began taking watercolor classes in Memphis. When she turned 50, Barrie began studying French and Italian at the University of Memphis. Barrie has won numerous awards both regionally and nationally for her artwork. Barrie holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance and a master’s degree in Business Administration. In the summer of 2013 she studied Italian Language and Culture at the University of Bologna, Italy. In 2014, Barrie became the director of the Tipton County Museum in Covington.
