Art Exhibit by Jo Byrd Cole and Addie Byrd Simpson on Display

Artist reception scheduled for Oct. 29 at the JNC

An art exhibit by Jo Byrd Cole and Addie Byrd Simpson, is on display at the Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) Jimmy Naifeh Center at Tipton County through Nov. 5. The exhibit is located throughout the Ripley Power and Light Company Lobby inside the Learning Resource Center. An artist reception will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, from 6:30-8 p.m. inside the Lobby.

Since devoting time to painting in 2007, Jo Byrd Cole has trained extensively through classes and workshops, in-depth studies, and experimentation with a range of media and subjects. Her work and first love is to create a new image imbued with imagination and the vision of what she sees in this wonderful world. A native of Tipton County and a 1986 DSCC alumna, Jo resides in Dyersburg with her husband, Dr. Barry Cole. Jo has dedicated this exhibit to all those who graciously became part of her life and inspired her…both two and four-legged wonders.

Addie Byrd Simpson is 11 years old and is a sixth-grader at Brighton Elementary School. She began taking art classes in the first grade from Mrs. Barbara Flowers McBride. Having painted in all mediums, she prefers acrylics. Addie says she enjoys the art of painting because it lets her be creative and express herself.  She especially likes to paint horses. Addie resides with her parents, Amanda and Shannon Simpson, her sister Savanna, her dog Winnie and horse, Daisy.

DSCC and the Tipton Art League are sponsoring this exhibit. For more information, contact Barbara Flowers McBride at 901-237-4006.
